The property industry is showing their heart this winter with a fundraising campaign for homeless kids. Austcorp and numerous other property industry organisations this year participated in the National Hard Hat Day for homeless kids.
What is National Hard Hat Day for Homeless Kids campaign? National Hard Hat Day for Homeless Kids is an annual charity fundraiser which runs in the lead up to the last day of May – a month away from the end of the financial year. It is designed to give all employers and employees working in, and associated with the property industry an opportunity to donate to homeless kids.
About the Beneficiary Project – Coordinated through the Property Industry Foundation and proudly supported by Master Builders Association (NSW), the proceeds from the 2007 National Hard Hat Day will go toward the building of a dedicated room for young people to access services at the Barnardos Penrith Childrens Family Centre.
This “youth room” will provide a confidential and safe space for the most vulnerable young people to access. The room will also be the central hub for all existing Barnardos Youth Service activities and programs in Penrith.
At present the Centre cannot meet the needs of all of the cases that are referred to them due to the limitations of the present Centre not having a dedicated youth space. Once the youth room is built the dedicated staff of Barnardos will be able to take on up to 95% of these referral cases.
