National property developer Austcorp Group Limited has reached a major milestone at its signature eco-development, Coomera Waters, on the northern Gold Coast, welcoming the 1000th purchaser.
Brisbane couple Matthew Blackburne and Fionna Sandell are the 1000th buyers at the thriving community with the purchase of an elevated homesite in the latest release, Evergreen High.
The large block, measuring 967 square metres, fits their plans to move from their low-set three bedroom home at Springwood into a planned five-bedroom home with views to Surfers Paradise.
“We would like to start a family in the next few years and therefore wanted a larger block of land and home,” says Ms Sandell, a trainee-solicitor.
“We liked the idea of the gated estate and the recreational facilities. The position of Coomera Waters near the M1 means Matthew can reach his Beenleigh business [Midas Car Car Centre Beenleigh] in 10 minutes and I’m only 20 minutes from work.
“We really liked the elevated block, as we can build a house that makes the most of the views to Surfers Paradise and the natural environment around Coomera Waters.”
Austcorp’s Land Manager for Queensland and the Northern Territory, Scott Biggs, congratulated the couple on their purchase, which is expected to settle in November.
“This project has been 11 years in the making so to celebrate the sale of our 1000th homesite is a very special occasion for us,” Mr Biggs said.
“While it is important to construct roads, houses, shops and sporting facilities, they are nothing but empty buildings without the people that interact inside them.
“Our 1000th homesite is that one more family has decided to choose Coomera Waters to call home and we are pleased to welcome Matthew and Fionna to the community.”
The 1000th sale follows a year of new developments, strong sales and property growth at Coomera Waters.
A shopping village, a boutique display home village and Evergreen High – the newest land release in 18 months – are the latest additions to Coomera Waters, which also boasts a 72-berth marina, 17-hectare harbour, two residents-only recreation clubs and more than 20 kilometres of eco-walking trails.
In addition to its EnviroDevelopment accomplishments with the Urban Development Institute of Australia, Coomera recently became a Queensland finalist in the UDIA’s Suncorp Marketing Awards for Excellence and received a high commendation at the National Property Council Innovation and Excellence Awards for Master Planned Communities.
Mr Biggs said people who bought in the early stages of Coomera Waters have seen waterfront land values triple and dry blocks more than double in the past five years.
In February of this year, Coomera Waters recorded its highest sale to date – a waterfront home for $2 million.
“It has been rewarding to watch Coomera Waters evolve from when the first resident moved into their new home in June 2002, to the thriving community it is today,” Mr Biggs said.
“In that time land values have continued to rise and the northern Gold Coast has been pinpointed for its major growth potential in the South East Queensland Regional Plan.
“Despite the leap in the prices in the past six or seven years, Coomera Waters still offers some of the most affordable quality large homsite land on the Gold Coast, with prices for dry lots starting at $295,000.”
Mr Biggs said the community has easy access to the M1 Motorway and rail link, is close to other key community facilities such as public and private schools, and the planned Coomera Town Centre, which will include a university, TAFE campuses, library, shopping and entertainment.
“With its world-class amenities, proximity to community facilities, environmentally sustainable design and boating lifestyle, Coomera Waters is certainly taking shape as one of south east Queensland’s most desirable places to live,” he said.
“We look forward to the ongoing development of Coomera Waters and to creating a first class lifestyle for our residents to enjoy every facet of their lives.”
Coomera Waters is being developed in 30 stages. When it is completed in 2012 it is expected to contain approximately 1800 homesites.
Coomera Waters is located just east of Dreamworld, on Foxwell and Colman Roads.
