Building has begun on the much anticipated apartment component at SW1, one of the best located residential developments on South Bank, with 60 per cent of the first stage already pre-sold.
Another 20 per cent of apartments are under contract in the mixed use urban village located in the emerging South Bank precinct.
Development of the residential component started on June 18, with only ten of the 58 apartments in Stage One remaining on the market.
SW1 is a fully integrated, master planned mixed-use urban village, located only 750 metres from the Brisbane CBD. Two commercial buildings and street level retail are already in operation, bringing increased vibrancy to the area.
Developers Austcorp Group Limited and Property Solutions have engaged award-winning architects for the design of Eden and Dos which comprise Stage One of SW1 residential.
Eden has been designed by leading architectural firm JMA, headed by John Mainwaring, one of Australia’s most influential architects and a winner of the country’s most prestigious residential architecture prize, the Robin Boyd Award.
Dos is the product of award-winning commercial designers, Haysom Architects, who built the Byron at Byron Resort which was nominated as one of the world’s best resorts by the Conde Nast Traveller magazine. It also won Haysom an RAIA National Council award for architecture last year.
The masterplan for SW1 includes residential apartments, four commercial towers and retail nodes fronting both Melbourne and Russell Streets, linked internally through the site by a pedestrian spine. Five architects are involved in the design of the overall site, resulting in an innovative and cutting edge market appeal.
Austcorp’s State Manager - Built Form Alison Quinn said: “The strong pre-sales are a credit to the success of the entire SW1 development with its retail, commercial and residential opportunities playing a vital role in linking the inner city cultural hubs of South Bank with West End.”
Mrs Quinn said SW1 offered residents the ultimate in city living.
“With shops, restaurants, markets and business on its doorstep and Brisbane CBD only minutes away, SW1 is revolutionising inner city living in Australia’s fastest growing city.
“Latest figures show unit sales in Brisbane’s southern suburbs have been outstripping the rest of the city in the past five years, so buyers have recognised the potential for investment returns."
The remaining 10 apartments are a combination of one and two bedrooms, ranging from 85 square metres to 118 square metres (total area) and priced from $399,000 to $609,000.
Settlement is expected in April next year.
