Vision Jumps to Stardom in Brisbane Movie Premiere

20 August 2007

Vision, the $900 million building that will redefine the Brisbane city skyline, is already a star of the big screen.

Jump, a short film starring Australian actress Kestie Morassi of Wolf Creek fame, will give viewers a futuristic glimpse of the nation’s fastest growing city when it premieres in Brisbane this Thursday (August 23 2007).

Vision will become the tallest building for Queensland’s capital city in, when all 287 metres are completed.

It is also set to be the state’s largest residential, commercial, retail and tourism building, situated on a 5500sqm site between Mary and Margaret Streets in Brisbane’s city centre.

Jump producer, Tim Hill of ESSAI Films, said digital 3D images used in Austcorp’s former $4 million Vision display centre will appear in the short film, which was one of 15 chosen from 101 applications through QPIX and the Australian Film Commission’s annual short film initiative, Raw Nerve.

Even though the groundwork has only just begun on site, audiences around the world could soon catch a glimpse Brisbane’s iconic building.

“The premiere screening is a launching pad for us to take our film to national and international festivals so this event is certainly an exciting time for us,” Mr Hill said.

“With its sleek, architectural design, Vision will be the Brisbane skyline’s 21st century signature building so it was fitting to feature it as our film is set in the future.”

Austcorp Queensland general manager Kerry Spencer said Vision was part of Brisbane’s future identity, so it was pleasing for Austcorp to support the city’s budding film makers.

“As developers of Vision, we are committed to the future of Brisbane and that includes the continued success of the arts,” Mr Spencer said.

“Vision is going to be an iconic building for the city of Brisbane and its presence in Jump, shows what an impact this building will have when it is finished.

“This development in Brisbane’s CBD will have a range of amenities and services on a scale never seen before in Brisbane or even elsewhere in Australia.”

With the tagline, “when you’re at war with yourself…Jump”, Jump is a quirky story about a businesswoman (Kestie Morassi, Wolf Creek) who faces an ethical dilemma when she is promoted.

Jump will play at the annual QPIX Into the Light screening this Thursday, August 23 at Palace Centro Cinemas in Fortitude Valley.
